Sunday Songs.

There is literally thee cutest French song which I was introduced to last week and I couldn't not share it with you. It's called Comme des enfants by Cœur de pirate and the lyrics are so sweet. So here's the video with the french lyrics and its corresponding english translation below just to brighten up your Sunday.

French
English
Alors tu vois, comme tout se mêle
Et du cœur à tes lèvres, je deviens un casse-tête
Ton rire me crie, de te lâcher

REPEATS

So you see as everything gets mixed up
From your heart to your lips, I become a headache (problem)
Your laugh defies me to let you go
Before losing hold and abandoning
Because I would never ask you for that much
You already treat me like a big child
And we have nothing left to lose
Except our lives, which we have set aside

And he still loves me, and me I love you a little more

But he still loves me, and me I love you a little more
That’s enough of this splitting in halves

It’s harder to do, otherwise

Because without laughter it’s easier to dream
Of what we can never again touch

We take each others hands, like children

The happiness on our lips, a bit naively

And we walk together with a determined step
While our heads yell at us to stop everything
He still loves me, and you love me a little more

But he still loves me, and me I love you a little more

And despite this, he still loves me, and me I love you a little more

But he still loves me, and me I love you a little more
INTERLUDE MUSICALE
Again, me I love you a little more

But he still loves me, and me I love you a little more

Despite this, he still loves me, and me I love you a little more

But he still loves me, and me I love you a little more

But he still loves me, and me I love you a little more

C'est très mignon, n'est pas?

The Sick Diaries.

I've been sick for the passed two days. How joyous, I know. There are some perks to staying at home and missing school.

  1. You miss school (i.e. I get to wake up a tad later)
  2. You can watch TV.
  3. You can watch series and movies on your laptop.
  4. Catch up on some blog reading.
Le not so perks of being a sick flower (AKA the reality of being sick at home):
  1. You have to catch up all the school work you missed.
  2. Daytime television sucks.
  3. You quickly realise you've watched most episodes of your series or that most series don't premiere until next week.
  4. Your eyes hurt (from being sick and tired) so you can't spend that much time on your laptop anyway.
Yesterday I spent a good part of the day sleeping and changing between warm and cool clothes because your body can't decide if it's feeling hot or cold. FUN. I also spent a lot of time sneezing (seriously, like most of last night I couldn't stop) so in light of that I found some funny sneezing-related pics on pintrest

Yes I looked like the maniac in the second pic. Imagine doing that repeatedly for like a good five seconds.
Too cute I know.
Hopefully I'll be well enough to return to school on Monday, if not it will be another day of sneezing, itchiness and lacklustre daytime television. Cry me a river, I know. Hope you have a superb weekend if you're sick as well - just snuggle up with a pot of tea/coffee/hot choccie and watch all those movies that you keep telling yourself "you have to see" (maybe even The Perks of Being a Wallflower, lolsies) at least that's what I'm going to do. Stay stylish!

Golden Globes 2013.

I just love awards season in Hollywood. The fashion during this time is amazing. My favourite thing to do is to watch E!'s live on the red carpet (sometimes even more than the actual awards show...shh).
Last night was the 70th annual Golden Globes and there weren't that many outfits that disappointed me this year. I thought I'd share with you my favourites from last night - I haven't yet watched the actual show, which only airs here in South Africa at 8.30pm tonight. So without further ado..

I'm not sure what exactly makes me love what Amy Poehler (one of the night's hosts) wore so much. Maybe because it was quite cheeky that she was not wearing a shirt underneath. Regardless this Stella McCartney suit and her gorgeous necklace looked great on her.

Anne Hathaway was wearing something from Chanel Couture's 2009 collection. With her new haircut and minimal accessorizes, it made the whole outfit all the more stunning on her.

Can we just take a moment to digest the fact that Claire Danes gave birth about 3 weeks ago. Okay moment over - she looked really effortless and beautiful in this Atelier Versace red silk gown.

One of the reasons that I loved Kate Hudson's Alexander McQueen gown is because it was one of the more sensible gowns (despite the plunging neckline) in that apparently chilly weather. I think that the statement neck piece and plunging neckline made the outfit and the belt-like feature just above her waist brought together the whole dress.

Last but not least was Taylor Swift. I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised when I saw her walk the red carpet. She looked amazing in this Donna Karen Atelier gown with an open back. The eggplant colour isn't my favourite, however, it does look good on her.

So that's my favourite five from last night's Golden Globes. What do you think?

C'est une citation.

Some wise words.

Island Hopping.

What started off as a cruise to Mauritius turned out to be something that none of us really expected. Haha that sounds so mysterious.

After four days of cruising we docked in the extremely humid port of La Possession, Reunion. It was a really beautiful French speaking island and the beach that we ended up at was by a part of the island called St. Gilles and the beach was heavenly in that heat.
Rain clouds looming.

Next stop was Port Lois, Mauritius on New Year's Day. We were originally meant to spend 3 days docked in Mauritius but due to a cyclone which was soon hitting Mauritius we could only spend that day there and would have to depart at 11pm that night. Luckily we had a taxi for the entire day and tried to squeeze in seeing most of Port Lois in a day. We visited the Port Lois market where you bargain your socks off if you don't want to get ripped off. We floated from one place to the next with dark clouds overhead, experiencing heavy rain for some parts of the day. We eventually ended up in the Grand Baie area which had a lovely beach that was almost like a lagoon. It would've been idyllic if the temperature was 3 degrees warmer. Shopping wasn't all that eventful because most shops were closed on New Year's Day and the few that we did find open we had to rush through because we had to get back to the ship. Tear, sniff. That night we decided to brave the rain and use a water taxi to get across the harbour to the waterfront where we ate fresh food from one of the local Indian restaurants as we were a little tired of the ship food. There was an arcade by the restaurant where we saw local Sega dancers which was something different.
Port Lois Market
The photo doesn't really do justice to how dull and overcast it was that day.

My souvenir from Reunion.
Since we only had one day in Mauritius, the ship took us to Fort Dauphin, Madagascar (after another two days of cruising). Fort Dauphin is a really rural place and as we stepped out of the shuttle from the ship we were swamped with hawkers trying to make a few dollars. Driving through the town there were no real buildings or structures which showed how poor this place was. We decided to go to the beach and the beach itself was breathtaking. The ocean was a collage of blues and greens. It was truly island living with simple canoe-like wooden boats floating around and on the shore. Despite us being on the other side of the island we could see the ship. The best place to be, however, was in the sea and if you were stuck on the sand as I was the sweltering heat didn't make for good company as you burnt like hell.

All in all, it was a good cruise. Not many people get to say that they visited all the islands off the southern coast of africa all in one go. Who needs to go bar hopping when you can go island hopping instead? Stay stylish!

Guess who's back?

Don't worry I didn't forget about my little part of the internet. Hope you had a festive Christmas and New Year and as cliched as it may sound my resolution is to get more organised and better prepared with le blogging.

Despite the relaxing cruise it feels good to be back on dry land home albeit for a week till we go back to school. There are some mixed emotions about that imminent day. Anyway the Gossip Girl posts will resume soon and be prepared for various posts on these past holidays. Whoop whoop.

Oh and I'm not the only one who starts singing Eminem's Without Me in my head err'time I read the post title? Right?
